Creating a Recall Them All Game

This page describes how to make a game. For more general help on making games on Sugarcane, please read How to Make a Game.

In Recall Them All, players try to type as many members of a category as they can. Go ahead and explore a few examples:

The key to making a successful game is picking a column that represents a group with a well defined number of members. Some examples include the 4 seasons, 7 dwarves, 12 zodiac animals, or 100 richest people in the world. Whatever group you pick, the player will name everything that belongs to it. Using the Solar System Planets data set, we can have players recall all of the planets by selecting the Planet column.

Here’s how you turn this into a game:

And here, again, is the resulting game: Name the Planets

You have the option of splitting a large group into smaller, more manageable categories. This would be useful when working with a data set of countries of the world, since there are so many countries! Here, we'll use the Main Continent column for our categories. This will produce a game that asks about one continent at a time rather than the whole world at once.

Try out the resulting game: Recall Countries by Continent

And here's how this game was made:

Now it’s your turn. Give it a try and have fun!
