One of the features of President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal was his remarkable 'alphabet soup' of agencies created to deal with the Great Depression that was gripping the United States. Not all of FDR's agencies survived the Depression, but his 'alphabet soup' is memorable nonetheless.
