Liter(L) | unit of volume of liquids |

Cubic Meter(m3) | unit of volume of solids |

Mass | The amount of matter in an object. Constant. Unit=gram |

Weight | The force of gravity on an object. Varies with location. Unit=newtons |

Volume | The amount of space that matter occupies or the amount contained in an object. Unit=cubic centimeters |

Density | The measure of how much mass is contained in a given volume. g/cm3 Density=mass/volume |

Estimate | An approximation of a number based on reasonable assumptions. Not a guess! |

Accuracy | How close a measurement is to the actual value |

Precision | How close a group of measurements are to each other |

Mean | Numerical average |

Median | Middle number in a data set |

Mode | Number that appears most often in a data set |

Range | The difference between the greatest value and the least value in a set of dat |

Anomalous Data | Data that does not fit with the rest of the data. Not necessarily wrong |

Graph | Data that has been organized into a picture |

Linear Graph | Data points are connected with a straight line. Independent and dependent variables are related |

Nonlinear Graph | No straight line. Variables do not have a clear relationship |

Model | A representation of an object or process. Globe, map |

System | A group of parts that work together to perform a function or produce a resul |

Input | Material or energy that goes into a system |

Process | What happens inside the system. Usually changes the input into the output |

Output | Material or energy that comes out of the system |

Feedback | A type of output that changes the system in some way |

Safety Symbol | Signs that alert you to possible dangers |

Field | Any area a scientist works outside of the labratory |

Tri | Three |

Quad | Four |
